College Visitations

College visit forms are in the guidance office and need to be completed a week before the scheduled visitation. Juniors are permitted to take one visit and seniors two.  The day does not count as an absence and the student can still participate in sporting events and practices for that day.  Students are to bring proof of college visit back to school the day following the visit.

* If a senior needs more than two College Visitation days and is not in attendance trouble can complete an Excused Absence form for additional days.  The days do count as absences.

Athletic Information

NCAA
This site contains much valuable information for the potential college athlete including eligibility requirements for Division 1, 2, & 3 schools.  For further information about eligibility go to the Eligibility Center Website and click on Prospective Student-Athletes. This site also has a place, which you can use to check if your high school courses will meet NCAA approval.

NCJAA
The National Junior College Athletic Association provides opportunities for student-athletes to continue their athletic careers. The NJCAA is divided into three divisions just like the NCAA. The schools that are members of this organization are two-year community and junior colleges. After completing their eligibility, a student-athlete may choose to continue their academic and athletic career at a NCAA or NAIA school.

NAIA
The small, private colleges and universities that are members of NAIA offer most of the same opportunities as NCAA schools.

Applying to Colleges

YOUR COUNSELOR IS HERE TO HELP!!!

APPLYING TO SCHOOLS

  1. Contact the Undergraduate Office of Admission at the college of your choice to get the application.

  2. Complete the application and write a check to cover the application fee. Be sure to put your name (the applicant’s name) and your Social Security Number on the check.

  3. Bring the application forms to your guidance counselor for review, to answer questions, or to offer suggestions.

  4. Your counselor will ask you to fill out an activity sheet when you bring him/her your first application(s). You will need to sign a transcript release form for each college, and you will also decide upon which college admissions tests scores are to be noted on the transcript.

  5. Remember to have ACT, SAT I, or SAT II Subject Test  scores sent directly to the college from the testing center: a.) Use the SAT Test application or the SAT Test Admission Ticket Correction Form to have four score reports sent free of charge to four different colleges. The ACT Test allows three score reports sent free of charge to three different colleges. b.) Specific cards for sending additional score reports are in the Guidance Office. There is a fee for each additional score report sent.

  6. At the college a personal file with your name on it is created. As your applications, transcripts, and letters of recommendation are received, they are placed in the file. when your file is complete, it will be reviewed by an admissions counselor.

It is suggested that a student apply to:

  • Approximately two schools for which you meet admissions criteria easily.

  • Approximately two schools for which you have a 50/50 chance of acceptance.

  • One or two schools for which you have a chance, but may fall short on some of the admissions criteria.
